Kehrberg-Trinklein Scholarship

Kehrberg-Trinklein Scholarship Fund

Passing on the gift of parochial school education
Growing up on a dairy farm in Frankenmuth during The Depression, Elva Trinklein knew the value of hard work. Her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Emanuel Trinklein, believed in the value of a quality Christian education, sending their four children to St. Lorenz Lutheran School.

At the same time, the Rev. and Mrs. August Kehrberg were affirming their commitment to a faith-filled education by sending their two children, including their youngest, Luther, to St. Lorenz School as well.

Years later, Elva Trinklein and Luther Kehrberg married and built a life together here in Frankenmuth until Luther passed away in January 2001.

Over eight decades since the couple first became elementary school students, Elva & Luther Kehrberg have established a scholarship fund to honor the memory of their parents and the commitment their families made to education so long ago. The Kehrberg-Trinklein Scholarship Fund aims to assist families with the cost of a parochial school education.

Frankenmuth-area preschool through college, university, or seminary students who wish to attend a parochial school may apply for the award. Application may be made through the school they are attending or wish to attend. Preference will be given to families with children in the elementary grades. Staff at each school will determine which candidates meet the financial need criteria. Application for college, university, or seminary tuition aid is handled through the high school guidance department at Frankenmuth High School or Valley Lutheran High School in Saginaw.
