Dr. Steve Bierlein Scholarship
This fund was started in 2025 by Connie Bierlein to honor her late husband, Dr. Steve Bierlein. The fund seeks to assist a graduating Frankenmuth High School senior who plans on enrolling in college/trade school for a career path in medicine.
Criteria for Selection:
In an attempt to carry out the wishes of the Donor, the following criteria for the awarding
of the scholarship have been determined and will be overseen by the Selection
Committee as defined below:
- Application Announcement. The availability of the applications for this scholarship will be announced by the FHS Guidance Department each year. The winner will be announced at the High School Honors Program. A standardized application shall be used for this scholarship.
- Selection Criteria
- The applicant must be a member of the current graduating class at Frankenmuth High School.
- The scholarship should be awarded to those students interested in pursuing a career in the field of medicine.
- The applicant must be planning to attend a college, university, or trade school full time, and prior to distribution of the scholarship funds must be accepted and enrolled.
- The applicant must demonstrate academic skills by having a grade point higher than 3.0 on a 4.0 scale while taking courses generally regarded as college preparatory in high school.
- The applicant must demonstrate service to their school, church or community through active participation.
- The scholarship will be awarded without regard to sex, race, place of birth, or personal handicap.
- Other criteria as recommended by the Donor.
- Selection Committee. The Selection Committee for the scholarship shall be selected by the Board of Governors of The Frankenmuth Community Foundation.
The Committee may be comprised of the following:
- Frankenmuth Community Foundation Scholarship Committee
- Bierlein Family representative ( l member)
If one or more of the positions enumerated above should cease to exist, the Board of Governors of the Frankenmuth Community Foundation will have the right to change the representative position with another position through their power to select the members of this Selection Committee. This decision-making authority shall only be within the Frankenmuth Community Foundation or its successors in interest.
This group shall act as the selection committee and their selection shall be final.
